Hi Joe,

Unfortunately we didn’t have time to personally thank you on the day. The ceremony was fantastic and was the most commented upon part of the wedding. You were very professional throughout the process and highly entertaining on the day!

Hi Joe,

David and I just wanted to say thank you so much for Friday. I’m just sorry we didn’t have a chance to say thanks in person. Almost every guest commented on how much they enjoyed the ceremony and that it was one of the best they had ever been to…..relaxed and fun and moving. One couple who are getting married next year enquired if you travel outside of Ireland! 🙂 So thanks again for everything and making our marriage ceremony so special.

Hi Joe, Thanks so much for a lovely ceremony as we really enjoyed it and the feedback from our guests was really positive. A number of people said you made them feel welcome and at ease from the start. Many of our guests had not been at a Humanist ceremony before so it was a new experience for them which they really enjoyed.

Hi Joe,

We both want to thank you for conducting our ceremony, it was truly a special day for us. The tone of the ceremony was perfect and everyone in our small congregation agreed it was a fantastic, relaxed and personal event. Thanks for being so easy to work with throughout the whole process, we enjoyed every moment of it and you made it that much more enjoyable.

Dear Joe,
Thank you very much for a wonderful ceremony…it was all we dreamed of and more!!! Our friends were so impressed with it. We had an amazing day…every aspect went as we had planned…we had a 70’s disco and the floor was full all night….five hours of fantastic music that wasn’t too loud!!!
Thank you very much again , Joe. Your words at our ceremony were so thoughtful and personal.
Thank you for the help with our readings…remember you sent us a list and we used some from that list; I was so happy with our musicians as well: they were so professional as indeed were you!

Hi Joe, I would like to say a massive thank you for doing our ceremony on Saturday.  It was absolutely amazing. Every single one of our guests commented on the ceremony and also on yourself. About how relaxed you made it for them and us. I would also like to thank you for the relaxed way you handled our handful of a daughter. She is amazing in her energy and you welcomed it and accepted it, which again all the guests commented on which made for a talking point in the ceremony. Thank you for letting us have so much input into the ceremony and allowing us to make it personal to us. It made the ceremony mean so much more to us and also to the people who know us. Again I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Hi Joe, We had an amazing ceremony and enjoyed it so much. You made us all feel totally at ease and we had so many comments about how much people enjoyed the ceremony and your mannerisms so please do not change a single thing as to how you perform humanist ceremonies in the future!

Hi Joe, Thank you so much for such a wonderful ceremony! Everyone complimented us on how beautiful it was. You were so patient with Lucas [Ed note: the couple’s young son] being so fussy. You made it very relaxed. There is nothing we would do to change it.

Hi Joe, We don’t know what to say! ‘Thank You’ just doesn’t express enough how happy & grateful we are that you were our celebrant and who joined us in marriage for the rest of our lives. The ceremony was AMAZING and we are still hearing 6 weeks later from people about how great the ceremony was. Honestly Joe you made our day! It was fantastic, the perfect balance of fun & seriousness. The only thing we are gutted about is that we didn’t get to say goodbye to you. We were so busy saying hello to people after the ceremony and then we were swept away for our photos, but I wish we had been able to have a drink with you after. We could sit here and type all night, as we have nothing but praise. FANTASTIC! You made our day Joe…. Thank you so much.

Hi Joe, Thanks a million for the energy you brought to the ceremony. You really got everybody involved from the start! For a lot of guests it was their first experience of a humanist ceremony & beforehand they really did not know what to expect. But the ceremony we wrote together and the energy you brought really impressed everybody and they only had kind and happy words to say throughout the day about it!

‘Dear Joe, Thank you so much for conducting such a fabulous ceremony for us, we were both delighted and Stephen was delighted with your tips in the hour before hand. It was a fabulous ceremony and our guests are still talking about you! A few potential clients asked for your name and details so hopefully you’ll be available when they set dates. We were delighted with your communication, ceremony, organisation and the delivery was excellent.’

Hi Joe,
We are back home now and have had the last week to reflect on our big day. We both loved the relaxed feel of our ceremony and have had lots of comments from people who have never been to a humanist ceremony saying how much they enjoyed the personal feel to it. We really appreciated how you managed the children who were making a bit of noise! For Ricky and I, it didn’t really matter as we could hear each other but we were aware that it might have impacted other people’s experience – you handled it perfectly though and made light of it, which is exactly what we wanted!
We were both very nervous (as you probably guessed!) but you put our nerves at ease and I think Ricky really appreciated the hour that was spent before the ceremony. Andy and Declan [Ed note: the musicians] actually emailed me to say what a gentleman you were! So I thought I’d pass that on too.
Thank you again for making our ceremony so memorable and special.

Hi Joe, We are just coming back down to earth after a fantastic few days and want to get in touch you and thank you for the very central role you played in making our whole day so special. The ceremony was the perfect balance of fun and warmth, while still capturing the gravity of the event. You made everybody feel welcome and comfortable. I knew from our meeting and email communication that we were onto a winner with you but still I was wowed by the ceremony on the day. Our friends and family gave such positive feedback, particularly those that had not been at a Humanist ceremony before. Thank you so much for your support in the lead up and your energy on the day!

Hello Joe, You did an amazing ceremony on Friday.  We loved every minute of it.  Andrew more so when it was over, think the nerves will getting the better of him.  lol. We got so many compliments about the ceremony, not many people had been to a humanist ceremony, they loved it.  They felt it was so interactive and that they loved every minute of it.  They said it just felt it was so personal and that it really kept everyone interested, and made them really feel part of it all. We were so happy to hear all the comments and compliments.  They loved the way we were facing people, which I have to agree we did too, lovely to see peoples faces and reactions, really made it such a lovely ceremony and at times funny.   It was just what we wanted.  Created the exact atmosphere we wanted, and it continued for the day. You did a fantastic job.  Honestly I would not change a thing.   You did a great job, were an absolutely pleasure to deal with, and I am so happy you did our ceremony.  Thank you for everything it was a pleasure to meet you.    Thanks for making our day so special.

Hi Joe,

We just wanted to let you know how grateful we are for the truly wonderful ceremony you conducted for us.  I know that some people might say that choosing to have an outdoor ceremony, in March, in the Wicklow Mountains could be foolhardy, but we wanted to thank you for following our wishes and in helping us to create our perfect day.  The ceremony, like the day, was fantastic.  It was personal, relaxed, sincere and evocative.  It was everything we’d envisaged and more.

A lot of our guests were blown away by the ceremony, many of them had never attended a humanist ceremony prior to ours; all of them commented upon the humour, warmth and intimacy that you injected into the ceremony.  Our guests come from many different backgrounds and have many different beliefs; probably covering the whole spectrum of faiths, from devoutly religious to rational atheist.  Yet every guest felt that the ceremony was inclusive, meaningful and magical.

We also wanted to thank you for all of your help in the run up to the ceremony, from help with the drafting process, to providing suggestions on readings and in allowing us to create a ceremony and a day that reflected not only who we are as individual people, but how we want to live our lives as a married couple. Thank you so much, Joe!

Hi Joe, We absolutely loved the ceremony, as did all of our guests. Everyone commented how welcoming you made everyone feel – we had a wide range of faiths from devout Catholics to United church members to atheists and no one was made feel unwelcome. The inclusion of the Skype call to Holly’s sister Jody – a very last minute addition – was expertly handled and made Jody feel as if she was part of the ceremony too. It was a lighthearted and most of all fun experience for all in attendance which helped kick off the party for the rest of the day. We honestly couldn’t have been happier with how it all turned out and would recommend you to any of our friends/family.

Hi Joe,
Just wanted to drop a quick line to thank you for all the effort you put into our ceremony in Trim Castle Hotel on 25th February this year.
We cannot thank you enough for the professionalism and guidance you gave from day one. Most importantly however, you made our ceremony warm, welcoming, fun and extremely inclusive of our guests.
We cannot thank you enough and just want to say that so many friends and family commented on how it was the best wedding ceremony they’ve ever attended!

Dear Joe!
More than a week has passed since the wedding and I think we’re still in a state of disbelief that the big day has come and gone already! And what a beautiful day it was!!! Talking to our guests since, there’s only been praise for the beautiful, personal and tailor made ceremony you conducted for us!!! Everybody felt that it was so suitable to us.
We truly are so grateful to you for making our day absolutely special! (Great job improvising on our missing wine box!) It all came together wonderfully and even better than expected. We found working with you a pleasure and we happily recommend you to anybody that is looking to have a humanist wedding ceremony!
Many thanks again!

Hi Joe,
Everyone absolutely loved the ceremony. They thought it was very personal and relaxed. It was the first time many of them were at a humanist ceremony and they’ve said they’re looking forward to going to more now. Darragh’s Dad in particular was very impressed that you said they could say a prayer as the rings were going around. He had been quite skeptical beforehand about humanism as he’d never heard much about it but he is still commenting on the inclusivity of it all. It was the perfect ceremony for myself and Darragh and we’re looking forward to having humanist baby naming ceremonies instead of christenings when the time comes. We were over the moon with everything you did for us.

Hi Joe, We never got to speak to you or shake your hands after the ceremony but before we headed off on honeymoon we wanted to say thanks so much for what was a truly wonderful ceremony on Saturday. A lot of people said to us afterwards, quite rightly, how personal, relaxed, bespoke and meaningful the ceremony was.

It set the tone for the whole day, which was all wonderful. Your preparedness, thoroughness and reassurance before the ceremony also helped settle the nerves and give us all some guidance for the ceremony itself. We were very fortunate to have you as a celebrant.

It really was a wonderful and special ceremony for us. Thank you for creating such a perfect tone and atmosphere.

Thanks again and best wishes with all your work.

We wanted to drop you a little note to say thank you so much for the wonderful humanist ceremony you performed for us on 3rd November. It was just how we imagined it and felt it was a very special day. Your words were very meaningful but there was also a great informality and intimacy about the occasion. Thanks also for your advice and support throughout the process of putting the ceremony together. Thanks again for a wonderful day, we will never forget you.

Hi Joe,

I’m sorry we did not get in touch sooner – getting back into the swing of work and life! Just looked through our photos this week too and it brought back so many wonderful memories of the ceremony. It was hands down my favourite part of the day – as it should be! We are so grateful to have had such a chilled and professional celebrant as you. You just made us feel so at ease on the day even when the nerves were at an all time high. So many of our friends and family continually talk about how much they enjoyed the ceremony and how emotional and personal it felt. One of my good friends Mary has booked you I believe too from seeing how lovely ours was!
Thank you anyway from the bottom of our hearts!  😊

James and Aoife, marriage conducted at Trim Castle Hotel, Co Meath, 20 May 2016aHello Joe!
Apologies for the length of time it’s taken to send you a message, but we have just got back from our honeymoon in Mexico!
Aoife and I just wanted to say a huge thank you for conducting our ceremony last month, it was a truly magical and memorable experience and we both loved every single minute of it. So many of our guests through out the whole of the rest of the day kept coming up to us and remarking on what a wonderful, intimate, fun and personal ceremony it was, lots of people commented that at many weddings they’ve been to the ceremony is just the bit you sit through before the celebrations begin but with ours it was genuinely a pleasure to be a part of it, and we owe so much of that to you.
My sincere apologies that I didn’t get a chance to speak to you after the ceremony and thank you personally, I’m sure you know how crazy everything gets at that point, and also thanks for your patience when we had our hurried rehearsal once we located my missing best man and he was rescued from the lift!!
Again, heartfelt thanks from both of us for making our wedding ceremony simply brilliant.

From our very first meeting, a whole year before our ceremony, we knew it was you we wanted to marry us! We met you with our son Ciaran who was nearly one at the time and you were amazing talking to him as well as both of us and it gave us great relief to discover that you and the ceremony would be child friendly! For us, marriage was a huge step but as we already lived together and have two children it was so so important to us that our ceremony would include them because to us it was the start of the next chapter for our small family not just myself and Gary!
Throughout the whole year you kept in touch and answered any queries we may have had! it was so enjoyable being able to build our ceremony alongside you as it definitely felt more personal to us.
When the day arrived you were in such great spirits getting all set up with Gary and that really helped him with the nerves so thank you! you greeted (and high-fived!!) myself and my family as I waited nervously to take the biggest walk of my life! Throughout the entire ceremony you were so relaxed and this echoed through us and our guests! Everybody was so comfortable it was a fantastically relaxed time which we enjoyed thoroughly! Our son, Ciaran who was by then nearly 2, took great pleasure in running riot and getting a sneaky shot on your microphone!! it was so much fun! We laughed, we cried and we LOVED every single second!!!
To anybody considering Joe as their celebrant, do yourself a favour and go for it! It was by far our dream ceremony and our guests are STILL saying how brilliant you were Joe! (My dad especially!)
Thank you so much for marrying us!
I wish you well in everything.
Love always

Hi Joe,

I am almost embarrassed how long it has taken me to write this email to you. This is also the hardest thank you as I don’t know where to start and I don’t know how to put it into words just how amazing you made our wedding ceremony. I will give it my best shot though!

Our ceremony was by far our favourite part of our wedding day. It was everything we had dreamed of and more. A relaxed setting and a fun and welcoming atmosphere. Your ability to make people laugh, cry and feel at home still amazes us. The way you pick up on any mistake we or our readers had made and turned it around to make it funny and as if it was supposed to happen was what made the ceremony even more fun.

In our video, after the ceremony the guests are congratulating us, absolutely everyone who approached us made comments on how it was the best service ever, that was the best craic ever, such an emotional ceremony, that was great idea, that Joe lad is some craic, I want to do that for my wedding, I wish I had that for my wedding, I will never have a church ceremony after that…… The list goes on.

We had Thank You cards and endless texts and emails from our guests saying it was the best wedding they had ever been to and their favourite part was the ceremony, this to me says it all as when do you ever hear that? Normally people see the church part as the formal bit you need to get out of the way before you can start having fun, I myself dread going to the church part of a wedding!. As myself and James say, it wasn’t us that made it the best day ever, it was Joe Armstrong and Bellingham Castle. The only thing we done was make the two best decisions, to have Joe Armstrong as our celebrant and to have Bellingham Castle as our venue.

I remember on the day, making my way to the ceremony, forgetting I had to breathe, my mind panicking and feeling like I might just collapse, you came out and cracked a joke and from there I was relaxed and ready for the day!

So Joe, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for giving us the wedding we have always wanted.

Laura & James married KClub 2 Jan2016 Laura & James married KClub 2 Jan2016bHi Joe,
Apologies it has taken me so long to pass on our thanks and appreciation for marrying Laura and I. The ceremony was the absolute highlight of our day and we particularly loved that you read the exceptionally long poem for us at the end. For many, this was their first experience of a humanist wedding ceremony and by their own admission did not know what to expect. The overwhelming feedback we received from our guests was how personal the ceremony was to us and how relaxed and welcome they all felt thanks in no small part to you. Laura and I are back living in New Zealand and are expecting our first child in December, what is your availability for coming to New Zealand in early 2017 to perform a naming ceremony? Heartfelt thanks again for marrying us and being such a big part of our wedding day.

Lisa & Enda wedding Moyvalley Hotel, Co. Kildare 21 November 2015Hi Joe,
Enda and I just wanted to send you a little note to say a huge thank you for our ceremony which you preformed on Sat, 21st Nov. It was so representative of both of us and our outlook and it found an amazing balance between inclusion, fun, solemnity and a bit of madness (having to do it twice*)!
The ceremony was the absolute highlight of our day and of many others, and we felt so blessed to have you conducting it. So many people wanted us to pass on their appreciation of the ceremony to you so we just wanted to let you know that all our guests felt so welcome, included and thoroughly enjoyed the ceremony.
On behalf of myself and Enda, thank you so much for all the work, preparation and time you gave the process for such an amazing outcome. Thank you,
– Lisa and Enda, wedding conducted at Moyvalley Hotel, Co. Kildare, 21 November 2015
[*Editor’s note: the excellent photographer and video guys were there in plenty of time but the bride unwittingly gave them the slip! They were on campus but awaiting the bride’s arrival elsewhere, missed the bride processing in at the beginning, so, when the wedding was over, we did a re-take for the video and photo album of the arrival of the bridal party!]

Michael and I just want to thank you again for all the work you put in with us before the wedding in order to make the day as wonderful as it was. Again, thanks for everything Joe, it was a pleasure working with you on our ceremony.

Dear Joe,
We were so delighted with our ceremony, it was just lovely, very special, and you made it special, you put everyone at ease, even poor Mike, you were so good to him you made him feel so at ease.
My daughter Martina was the only one who had been to a Humanist wedding, so this was something new to everyone else, they were all captivated by the ceremony, loved the readings and the rituals, they all said it was the first and only wedding that they felt they were brought along with the bride and groom, they felt involved, and that was down to you Joe, the couples that were at the wedding said it was the way for them, so we will be passing on your number.
Mike and myself want to thank you for a wonderful day, we are honoured to have been married by you, you are a wonderful guy, good natured and you have a special gift, may life be good to you and your family, you will always be in our thoughts,
Love to you,

Hi Joe,

Dear Joe,

As Mick so aptly said, you set the tone for the day. It was just perfect. I know from Mick how much thought and effort you put into it. Joe if I could freeze a period in time it would be my wedding ceremony, as to me the most beautiful ceremony was my own. Mick and myself have been together many years, a relationship built on mutual respect, a solid friendship and great affection and love. Through our ceremony which you guided us through I truly believe this was reflected. We thank you for what was and probably will always be the best day of our lives.

Dear Joe,

I want to sincerely thank you for all you did for us in the run-up to the ceremony and for conducting our marriage ceremony itself.
I can honestly not remember ever being as happy as I was during our wedding ceremony and for me it was definitely the most important and most special bit of a truly fantastic day.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much. If there is ever any way that we can be of any use to you, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Many many thanks, and warmest regards,

Joe, we both want to pass on our thanks and gratitude to you for making our day so special, and for playing such a big part in helping the day be so, so personnel.

From the first time we met you in Kells, through to your guidance on the ceremony; from your experience in letting us know what would work well, through to helping Shane and his Best man & Groomsman that morning. All of it, every little bit, made the ceremony you conducted special in a way that can be only summed up by saying, there is no other way we would ever have done it.

All the read throughs we done prior to the ceremony didn’t do justice to prepare us for how beautifully you delivered it. You brought humour, sensitivity and character to our day. You made us feel relaxed throughout, and by doing that, you made everyone in that circle relaxed watching it. Your generosity with the readers, with our parents and with all who played there little part – it made it feel so inclusive for everyone. Listening to the words leap from paper to the ceremony brought on emotions that we just could not have prepared for.

Humanism, for the majority of people there, was an unknown, it was just a word when they took their seats. But by the end of it, humanism was about people, about friendship and about love to everyone there. People were blown away. Their eyes were opened. Shane’s aunt, who is a nun, and his Uncle, who is a Christian brother, loved every minute of it. So many people came up and said it was the most beautiful ceremony they had ever attended.

So from the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much for playing such a big role in making the day, the ceremony and our wedding such an enchanting memory.

Thank you so much! We really can’t speak highly enough of you and what you brought to our wedding day.

Hi Joe,
Catherine and I just wanted to drop you a line to offer our sincerest thanks for the quite brilliant role you played in our celebrations.  We have been told by many since that day that it was the best wedding that they have been to; the part played by yourself was obviously vitally important to the day going as well as it did.  You struck the perfect balance of solemnity and jocularity that ensured that all of our guests were as relaxed as we were, and for this, we will always be profoundly grateful.
You can be sure that your name is top of our list if we are ever asked for advice on celebrants for a humanist ceremony.
Thanks again Joe and we both hope that the future offers you that which you gave us for even a short time,
